Meeting the Stinson V-77’s cousin

I was in Seattle this past week and had about an hour after work to drop into the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field.  They have a replica of a Stinson Model O aircraft on display.  The original Model O was built in 1933 for the Honduran Air Force.  Stinson used the wings and tail of the Stinson Reliant and mated those to a fuselage with two open cockpits, the only open cockpit Stinson model ever built.  Nine airplanes were built in total.  They used a 220 hp version of the Lycoming R680 engine.  The airplane on display used the wings and tail from a Stinson SR-5 Reliant, with the fuselage and wing center section constructed based on photographs.  It first flew in March of 2010.  You can definitely see the lineage between the Model O and the V-77.

More space

I advertised the old fuselage, left wing, and a small pile of parts left over from the V-77 restoration on Barnstormers a few weeks back.  Tony contacted me the next morning and was interested in anything I had.  He is from Mississippi and just starting his own V-77 restoration.  Tony arrived today and picked up those parts.  It is good to have some hangar space back and also know we will be helping Tony on his project.
